Meet Lindsey (she/her)

Lindsey Cooper is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Westlake Village, CA. She specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults exploring identity, life transitions, trauma, and the unique LGBTQIA+ experience. Lindsey provides both in-person and virtual therapy to residents of California. Through utilizing a hollistic approach to therapy, she focuses on empowering each individual to lean into their unique strengths and experiences. In our work together, we will unpack, explore, and work through the cognitions and beliefs holding you back from having the relationship with yourself and others you desire as well as develop or reconnect with effective coping skills to fully embrace all that life has to offer.

Therapeutic Approaches

Person-Centered

Through developing a collaborative and non-judgmental relationship, we will have open and honest conversations that will empower you to embody your strengths, abilities, resilience and inherent worthiness. This approach makes space for you to begin identifying the behaviors or limiting beliefs that get in the way of you living and being the person you want to be (while also figuring out who that is along the way!)

DBT

DBT is a cognitive behavioral treatment focused on learning and implementing skills for self-regulation in four areas: distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness. By learning and implementing skills as we dive into our internal work, we develop effective resources and coping strategies to support us on this healing journey.

LGBTQ+ Affirmative

Being a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I understand the specific challenges we are exposed to. Your experience is unique and deserves to be heard. Together, we can address what it is like to find your place, deal with internalized homophobia/ transphobia/ queer-phobia, and cope with the cultures from which you were raised in.

Trauma Informed

Trauma informed means I am aware of and attuned to the impacts of trauma and the ways that it directly impacts our experience of the world, our moods, choices, actions and behaviors. Trauma is a rich and complex entity and I am equipped with the skills, training, and experience to create a sense of safety that empowers to you move from a trauma response in to post-traumatic growth and healing.

Talk Therapy

Talk Therapy provides an opportunity to share, explore and process private thoughts and feelings in a judgement-free zone. Talk therapy is a safe and confidential space to explore, talk, feel, process and grow. It is a collaborative journey where we identify what is working in your life as well as the presenting challenges, themes and limiting beliefs that have created barriers to living the life you want and deserve.

Brainspotting

Through the use of bilateral sound, Brainspotting gives us a tool, within this clinical relationship, to neurobiologically locate, focus, process, and release experiences and symptoms that are typically out of reach of the conscious mind. Brainspotting is a powerful method that works by identifying, processing and releasing emotional/body pain, trauma or dissociation.
